This is my healing story.
In 2010, I felt like my life had fallen apart. I was freshly seperated and facing divorce just six weeks after getting married. I had grown up in the church and had tried to “get everything right,” yet here I found myself, heartbroken and now facing a deep disillusionment that had been a long time coming. I was reeling, I was raw, and I was ready for the truth.
Coming to this point became for me a Crossroads.
Here at the Crossroads, I was being invited to surrender, to lay down everything I thought I knew to make room for everything God wanted to show me about my inward condition, about the brokenness of my own heart, and my need for Him to heal many hurts from the past.
Psalm 51:6 says “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”
It often takes desperation for us to really be willing to stop all we are doing and saying and trying to be, long enough to listen. I came to that point. God meets us there at the point of our desperation. He often has to wait for us to get there before we will lay down our pride and hear the truth.
So that is where God met me. He held out His hand to me, and when I grabbed hold of it, He took me on a Truth Journey. It is a continual journey of revelation. There is a powerful healing that comes with unearthing “truth in the inward parts,” acknowldegement of the past, grieving losses, forgiving others and ourselves, and embracing our own hearts and our present reality in all of it’s mixture.
For me, surrendering to this process was the beginning of becoming the Real Me. Saying Yes to this journey gave me back my life.
